Print "Hello World!";

Well, this isn't exactly node/1 but it is my first "blog" post. I decided I wanted a place to put things I write that are more opinions and thoughts and less tutorial-y. So I made a blog. I'm not using the blog module because having "Michelle's blog" on all the posts seemed kind of silly. CCK and views works better for a single person blog.

This site has grown oddly. It started being nothing more than a placeholder to point to the sites I was working on. Then I needed a home for my tutorials and dumped them here. Then came the forums to handle the deluge of support requests for said tutorials. The site lived in a state of barely controlled chaos on a stock Garland theme for a long time. I was too busy working on other things to give it much attention.

Slowly, in fits and starts, I've been trying to get this place ship shape. I'm using a slightly modified Sky theme. I really love the look of this theme and just a little change to the header made it fit the name of the site. Speaking of names, just an FYI for the world, I don't go by "Shell". I just used a play on my name for the website. Anyway, back to the theme. Most of it is stock, but I modified the forums because I hate the look of the stock Drupal forums. It's currently using a hacked up flatforum but will be changing to my Advanced Forum (more on that later) soonish. In addition to the theme change, I added some new node types, some taxonomy, and some views to organize the content. That organization is still going on so things may move around a bit as I go on.

And, of course, I'll keep adding content. There's more tutorials in the works as well as the blog posts percolating in my head that prompted me to add this section.

Stay tuned. :)
