My name is Michelle Cox and I am user 23570 on drupal.org. I started with Drupal in May 2005 and have been actively using it ever since. I did a small amount of freelance work from September 2007 until December 2009 but mostly just use Drupal as a hobby and build volunteer sites for local charities and organizations.
At this time, I am not looking for general paid work as my modules and my websites keep me busy when my kids let me at the computer. I may consider sponsored features for my modules depending on the scope and deadline. My rate for that is $100/hour. 99% of my work is not sponsored so donations are always welcome. :)
Shell Multimedia is not an actual company; it's a placeholder for a potential company and a blog, mostly centered on web development. The name came about years ago when I first got serious about building websites. I needed a master domain for the hosting account and chose an open ended name that left me free to move into development, photography, and/or video -- my three hobbies with money making potential. The Shell comes from a play on my name but I do not actually go by "Shell".
My interest in Drupal is primarily in social networking / community sites, especially forums and (though more in the past than the present) user profiles. My strongest points are knowing what modules to use to achieve the desired functionality and writing custom code to fill in the gaps. While I am able to do some theming, that is my weakest area, especially dealing with CSS layout and IE quirks.
Some examples of my Drupal sites. These are live sites so no test accounts/posts, please (other than ShellSN).
- Coulee Region Online is a community portal site for my area. This is the site that spawned all my modules.. {This has fallen into disrepair and is due for a massive overhaul this Winter.]
- La Crosse Area Camera Club: I have built and maintained the website for our local camera club since 2003. The current incarnation is in Drupal 7.
- MOMS Club of Holmen: MOMS Club is a wonderful organization for stay at home moms. When I joined in 2005, I discovered they didn't have a website. Unfortunately, restrictions from the parent organization have reduced it to just a simple brochure site.
- ShellSN: This site is meant as a demonstration / learning tool for Drupal social networking. The site has very little in the way of customization and shows what Drupal can do with no programming required.
My contributed modules:
- Advanced Forum: Enhancement for Drupal's core forum that helps make Drupal's forum similar to stand alone packages.
- Advanced Profile Kit: Tools for building advanced user profiles.
- Author Pane: Author information block used by the other two modules and also as a stand alone block / theme function.
